I've always pictured the App as a deity-figure that, while not really caring to delve into details in any of the 3 tiers, it isn't that big a deal if it crosses over once in awhile. I guess in this case I'm just not seeing much difference between telling the UI to show a dialog to the user, and telling the UI to show a dialog to the user. After all, the UI did request the dialog from the App in the first place. By all means, change it to have the proper separation.
