Those wx methods are wrapped as obj.lockDisplay() and
obj.unlockDisplay() in Dabo. And no, there isn't a lot of
optimization in the Class Designer yet. Things change so much that it
is premature to worry about that, and besides, sometimes the extra
drawing being done alerts me to parts of the code that need work.
