MONO Winforms run natively in Linux now.
You can create cross platform GUI using Winforms, GTK# or even
wxWindows.
I like Winforms DataGrid control which allows to use up/down arrows to
navigate between grid rows when editing grid cell. This is not
possible with DABO/wxWindows grid.
This *could* certainly be possible; as in all open source projects,
when things get done depends on who's willing to contribute.
How to use Winforms as Dabo GUI ?
How to call MONO classes like System.Windows.Forms from Dabo ?
I have no idea, and to be honest, no interest in investing any time
into this. But if working with Mono and Dabo is worthwhile to you, be
sure to share what you learn here; perhaps there are others who want
to do something similar.
Has anybody tried to compile dabo into CLI bytecode using
IronPython and run
it under MONO ? This should allow to call Winforms from dabo code.
I haven't, but then again, I do 90% of my work on OS X, and so
really don't have a need to work with IronPython.
