Hi,

Would it be possible for Dabo to support database application "extensions," where a useful but general database application, say a non-profit database, could be distributed and then customized for each organization's particular needs? For example, one non-profit is an animal shelter and another non-profit provides meals to persons who cannot leave their homes, so each installs a different extension. Also, there could be extensions for tracking pledges, volunteers, grants, events, clients (in a dozen different ways), cash donations, non-cash donations, etc.

Sure, it is possible to distribute an application that can be modified, but when the upstream releases an update, what happens then? So, this extension system could allow different people and different groups create their own extensions, so the applications could grow more sophisticated and more useful. Also, there should be an easy way to install these extensions. So, basically, I am suggesting an extension system like Firefox has.

Best regards,
Andrew

BTW, I tried suggesting this elsewhere: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355532
