For any of the released versions, no, SQLite is not required. Starting with the current version in development, though, it will be. The reason is that we use SQLite internally for storing and managing preferences, as well as for doing some behind-the-scenes queries that are not possible otherwise.

And, FWIW, the new release of Python includes SQLite as an included module, so if you are running Python 2.5 for your app, you already have it!

Hey, if anyone out there is using Python 2.5, please let us know your experiences, good and bad. I haven't upgraded yet, as I don't want to add another variable into my testing, but it would be good to know if there are any issues.
