I set up the boxes to make the step pyramid using the

pyramid.)
A while ago, I downloaded and installed the nightly
tarball.
When I open the report designer, the pyramid is still
there, but when I go to the xml pane, it is completely
blank.
Visual design is good, but not always better. To get
the boxes lined up right and all the same size, the
xml pane worked better for me.
I agree - I actually prefer to use the visual designer to quickly mock
up a design, but then I switch to the xml editor to get everything just
right, add the various expressions, etc. I can then switch back to
visual and preview to see the results.
Do I have start over to get the info back in the xml
pane?
I don't know, actually. Some expression failed to evaluate somewhere due
to bugginess of the tool. Do you have a terminal window open to see any
possible tracebacks?
You should definitely make sure you have very recent dabo and daboide
versions. The report writer is part of dabo; the report designer is part
of daboide.
