May I ask a dumb question? I (somewhat familiar with databases and programming, but no professional at all) have studied the dabo- website. Even though there is plenty of interesting information, I'm still a bit unsure about what dabo is exactly. My impression now is that dabo is similar to Ruby-On-Rails, but done in Python and with with the aim of a standalone app rather than a frontend in a browser (hence Python in a car)??? I think, on the website you could give a few more infos to dummy-programmers like me, so we find it easier to figure out, if dabo is for us, and how it is different from other similar projects.
We didn't start out knowing anything about RoR; we both come from a desktop application background. When we couldn't find a good open source tool to create desktop apps, we decided to write our own.
If there is any tool we can be compared to, it would be either Visual FoxPro or (when we get the rest of the IDE completed) Visual Studio.
I agree that the website could be greatly improved, as it's pretty bare-bones for now. That's because it's just the two of us doing this in our spare time. It would be great if someone could contribute ideas for an improved layout that gets the message across better.
