The beauty of mail lists - you get all sorts of views :)

I was thinking the limits post was a bit narrow, but Office substitute?

I contend that you can write anything in any language. Mike Helland mad that
clear when he wrote Tetrus in VFP. The question is right tool for the job.
and 'right' has many facets. There is technical merit, support network,
perception of stuff, cost of purchase, cost of operating, cost of making a
mistake, etc.

Dabo is more than just a replacement for VFP. With VFP, you could either work
at the command prompt (I know a guy who spends about 15 hours a week munging
data) or write high quality professional apps, and all things between. If you
are going to write an app, you pretty much need to build it around some
framework. VFP out of the box isn't "it" (even if they did provide an app
generator and a framework - they just wern't professional.) Once you have your
framework, and figure out how to use it, then you start writing your app. That
is what Dabo started off trying to achieve. Apparently it solved some GUI
problems as a side effect :)
