We don't have stable nightly builds, just trunk nightly builds.

+1 on recommending the trunk build right now, but we need to explain why.

Depends on your definition of 'stable'. The stable branch is correctly 
named, because it is in a known state, and only bugfixes are backported. 
It isn't in a state of flux.

I think another idea would be to release things like screencasts against 
the latest stable branch instead of against trunk. This way, when people 
download the stable branch they can follow along with the screencast 
instead of hitting bugs. Or, if the screencast is done with the trunk, 
wait until the next release before announcing the screencast to the 
world. Just a thought.
