There are several excellent tools on each platform. One of the
reasons I do most of my development on the Mac is that I love BBEdit
and TextMate, two powerful editors that make me a lot more productive
than with any others.
If you'd like, I can set you up for Wiki access so that you can add
your recommendations.

Have you searched for dabo on gmane? You will be pleasantly
surprised, I think.
IIC, most decent email programs provide decent threading.
