I've used Ubuntu, Fedora, and Red Hat as my main operating system, and 
have clients set up with Ubuntu and Fedora. More things in Ubuntu "just 
work", but then again my Fedora and Red Hat experience goes back 5 
years, so perhaps that is the case with those as well.

All I can say is that I love Ubuntu, and have no reason to look for 
another distro. I'd say that 95% of the apps I run I was able to install 
using apt-get (easy installer and dependency checker). It is also really 
easy to upgrade when a new version comes out (no need to install from a 
ISO again).
