For this use, a simple property that affects the entire grid would
suffice.
It would have been nice to have more control, but it's probably not
you'll need it...

        Actually, no, there currently is no way to turn off the
restoration  
of the previous settings. I agree that there should be.

        Would a grid property akin to the form's SaveRestorePosition  
suffice? Or do we need more individual control?
