It sounds like you have a conflict between the runtime engine and
your own Python installation. You really should use one or the other,
but not both. If a Dabo app runs without the runtime engine, why would
you need it?

But they shouldn't work with Python, unless you have wxPython and
Dabo installed, too. Again, if you have those things, you don't need
the runtime engine.
