I had the same problem when I first stared with Dabo. If you're using Windows, go to http://tortoisesvn.net/ and install TortoiseSVN which will allow you to get subversion updates of all the Dabo files. I found this to be the cleanest way to do an installation as well. There are some sketchy instructions for installing Dabo this way at http://dabodev.com/wiki/SubVersion. If I was able to figure it out from there, you should. It's really pretty simple. Since the last major release there have a been a lot of improvements made to the ClassDesigner, including the response time in Windows. So updating to the latest subversion will take care of a lot of the issues you may be having with it.
