I just did a test under a ubuntu 8.04 vm. It worked for me. Do you see the tables in your db when you use the commandline utility sqlite3? Start sqlte3 and enter the command ".tables". Maybe your firefox sqlite admin tool is using sqlite instead of sqlite3.
