I been working on upgrading wxWidgets and wxPython on Ubuntu that is
explained at the wxPyWiki web site:

I performed the dabo install on Ubuntu that I added to the dabo wiki.
The next step was to upgrade both wxWidgets and wxPython from version
2.8.7.1 to 2.8.9.1 wxGTK when I came across in the Synaptic Package
Manager that before I did upgraded that these three packages
python-wxaddons, python-wxtools and wx2.8-18n were never installed.
After performing the upgrade:
sudo apt-get install python-wxversion python-wxgtk2.8 python-wxtools
python-wxaddons wx2.8-i18n
the three packages were then installed. I don't no if this is important
but if it is then I need to include in the dabo install the upgrade
steps.
