You can go to the "About" menu choice under the Help menu to see the
installed version information.

If you installed Dabo to the site-packages directory, then yes,
you'll have to update as root. If this is your own machine, it makes
things easier if you install Dabo somewhere in your home directory
where you have privileges, and add a symlink to that directory in site-
packages. This way you can update Dabo without having to become root.
