That sounds like a configuration on your machine that Python doesn't
understand. I'm assuming that your system is set to something other
than US English?
Can you try this? Open a Terminal window, start a Python session, and
at the Python prompt, type the following:
[...@homer ~/projects/dabo]$ python
Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Feb 6 2009, 19:02:12)
[GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5465)] on darwin
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import locale
>>> print locale.getlocale()
Let me know what gets printed.
BTW, there is no longer any difference between 'python' and 'pythonw'
on the Mac. It mattered once, but that's been fixed in the past few
years.
