Yes, this was never considered as an option. It would not be terribly
difficult to add, though, as all the code to create a new file is in
place. Could you add a Trac ticket for this, so I don't forget?

That particular error has been reported before, but I didn't realize
that it was silently failing in the Class Designer. Please add a
ticket for this issue, too.
