I will look into this later. I'm slightly ore confortable with producing package directly for debian than ubuntu since that is what I run here. The difference will I hoe only be a package rebuild against the appropriate system. (although up till recently the default python version has varied a bit between the two). It looks like the debian mentor process is straightforward and will allow unbuntu's MOTUs to pick it up.
