The only thing I remember is that I had a customer database that wouldn't work correctly with some records without the str factory. I think either Jeff Johnson or John Fabiani suggested the change. I researched it briefly and determined that it didn't cause problems, and committed it. Look in dabo-dev and/or dabo-users archive around October 20, 2010.
