Hi,
As a proud Dad I'd like to thank my son for the work he did as part of the
software team that wrote the software that MESSENGER uses.

The reason this is a bit special for me is that Messengers brain in the
Command and Data handling is running software my son worked on at Windriver.

The command and data module runs four "radiation hardened" "RAD6K" (RAD6000)
PowerPC microprossors. Each runs VxWorks 5.3.1. These ones are particularly
fast at 25MHz. If you know modern processors, this is not so fast, but hey,
these chips don't flip bits when gamma rays bombard it.

Anyway "Software in Space!" Cool, no?

BTW my son also worked on the software for the "PATH FINDER" on Mars!
