Mac here because the environment is almost setup out the box. I have my business programs (all dabo) running on a combination of Mac and Windows because UPS worldship (which the dabo programs integrate with) only runs on Windows...
I've noticed some things: developing features on the mac generally almost always work as expected when ported to windows. Developing features on windows (especially UI layouts with bodersizers or things with images) with half the time break or look very funky on Mac. So, my recommendation is if you are spinning up VM's for the class, then spin up OS X VM's. If not, then I would probably go Windows.
