I just installed 12.04 under VirtualBox, and was able to run DaboDemo
without a problem. Here's a quick screencast:

Maybe you have some funky preferences saved? Can you try deleting
~/.dabo/DaboPreferences.db? Or, if you need anything in it, move it elsewhere
temporarily. Then try running the demo again.
