Re: Chulin 106: Rashi's statement that eating Chazir constitutes two Isurim
Dovid Lieber <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked:
>>The Rambam says that Neveila only applies to Kosher animals that can be
>>Shechted.
Does the Rashi quoted in the Insights to the Daf argue on the Rambam - or
can there be a different explanation to Rash"i? <<
The Kollel replied:
>>As the Halachah of the Rambam is not directly mentioned in the Gemara it is
likely that Rashi argues.<<
Dovid Lieber <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asks:
The reason I am asking this question is because a question came up where a
baby has to take one of two formulas. One contains Chazir and one contains
cow - Neveila. Eating Neveila is a Lo Sasei and an Asei (to Shecht the
animal). Eating Chazir is a Lo Sasei and, according to Rash"i, an
additional Lo Sasei - of Neveila (where there is no Asei because Shechita
of the Chazir is not a Mitzvah).
If we pasken like the Rambam, the choice would probably be to give the
formula with Chazir. According to Rash"i - there is a choice
between a Lo Sasei and Asei or two Lo Sasei. Do we follow Rash"i or the Rambam?
Thanks very much.

Rabbi Feinhandler replies:
Dear David,
It is better to eat the nevelah as I have explained in the attached
teshuva. If you cannot view it, you can send your fax number and I can
fax it to you.
Best wishes,
