Menachos 000: Einei Shmuel
Reb Hillel Alpert <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked:
Could you please inform me the name of the book and its reference in which
the "Einei Shmuel", can be found or the Hagahos Einei Shmuel? I believe it
is a commentary (at least of Tehillim) that is alluded to in some Gemorrah
notes.

The Kollel replies:
Rav Hillel,
His notes are included in the Wagschall edition of the Vilna Shas, in their
"compendium of commentaries on each Daf." That is where we found them.
According to our research, his name was Rav Shmuel Aharon Rubin, and he was
Rav in Korotshen (sp.?), in Poland. He passed away on 26 Tamuz, 1857, after
traveling to Eretz Yisrael (see Atlas Etz Chayim 11:993). His other known
work is Beis Aharon, a commentary on the laws of Gitin and Chalitzah
(printed 1876).
