It's looking like one of the Configure steps is failing and not
continuing. Can you please try building that perl by hand and let us
know at what step Configure is failing?
I tried by hand. Apart from Configure saying "/bin/less -R" doesn't
exist (I had to change it to /bin/less), configure did not fail.
Make worked; however make test failed:

I suspect that there may also be a problem with Test::Smoke than with
Perl. I'll file a bug report there.
