If you haven't read it, this Ars article <http://arstechnica.com/security/2012/10/zero-day-attacks-are-meaner-and-more-plentiful-than-thought/> and the paper <http://users.ece.cmu.edu/%7Etdumitra/public_documents/bilge12_zero_day.pdf>they link to are interesting to read. They claim that 0day on average lasts 312 days.
