A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand...

Jesus is hinting at a true spiritual reality here that we have no
chance to view. He tells us that if Satan's kingdom is divided, then
it cannot stand. In fact, everyone in Satan's kingdom is seriously
pained by everyone else in the kingdom. No one can stand anyone else.
For a time Satan holds them all together. But in the end of things,
all will fall apart from a single breath of God.

Satan's kingdom is exceedingly fragile. It appears fearsome and
unbeatable--but that is illusion. Jesus can drive out demons with a
word. His apostles and disciples, likewise. We have grown so
convinced of the power of evil that we forget that we are citizens of
God's kingdom. The rights of those citizens pertain to all of us.

Our hope is heaven. The hope of heaven, the presence of the Holy One,
and our continuing faith constantly drive the wedges into the kingdom
of evil that will eventually burst it asunder. Stay true to the
faith, walk closely with Christ, pray for the intervention of the
Holy Mother Mary, and don't fear the appearances of a empire of
evil--it has no claim on us.
