A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
Who is this man, who calls sinners to follow him? Who is he who looks
at the lowly and outcast, the one who looks deeply into the heart of
a person and sees the potential that lies hidden by the vale of
darkness? In today's Gospel Jesus did not only call Levi (Matthew) to
be a disciple, showed us all that the outward presence is what man
sees and the inward is what Jesus sees.
There is a spiritual rebuilding of the soul when ones repents and
walks according to the spirit of Christ. Some Christians call this
being "born again" when they have a divine personal experience from
Jesus. Rightly so, it is through reforming our lives and dying to
self and sin that we might be born anew by the power of the Holy
Spirit. The call from Christ not only entered Levi's ears but it
enlightened his heart and set it on fire. This same call is coming
from Jesus to you and to me each moment of every day.
When will we answer that call?
Lord,
we are the clay
You are the potter.
Mold us anew!
Amen
