A Reflection on Today's Scripture:

Bear fruit through perseverance, Jesus says in the Gospel. Keep God's
command without blame or reproach until our Lord Jesus Christ shall
appear, says Paul in his letter to Timothy. Patient perseverance.
That should be our prayer. Not consolation. Not freedom from
hardship, disappointment or betrayal, but patient endurance.

And where shall we possess this precious commodity, but in Christ
Jesus. Jesus, the beloved Son of the Father, showed us how patient,
faithful service to God can be accomplished. He taught us about the
Gift of faith, the virtue of humility and total reliance on the
Father.

We should not worry. We are not desolate. We have been assured by The
One who keeps His promise that whosoever calls on the name of the
Lord shall be saved. Therefore, in confidence, let our hearts and
voices be raised to the Blessed Trinity - Holy Creating Father,
Obedient Saving Jesus and Loving Empowering Holy Spirit, that we may
persevere until that sure and certain day when Jesus will come again
in glory.
