A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
Don't be afraid....
The words of the Gospel are directing us to do the work of Jesus,
going out and witnessing to everyone we meet. They are very specific
with detail on how to conduct our mission. Our actions must be
peaceful yet we must have a mindset that allows us to discern if we
are welcome. You will notice that the instructions are for pairs to
go out and witness together.
How must we do this in today's world? Start by calling on the Holy
Spirit of God to fall afresh on you. Once you have arrived at your
goal, find another person, pray together and do it! Knowing your own
greatest gift, you are equipped to follow your heart and souls,
showing the love of Jesus to everyone you meet - loving the poor, the
aged, the little children, all walks of life are covered. Carrying a
person in a wheel chair down 86 flights of stairs in a burning
building, searching through the rubble of a disaster area, hugging a
bereaved person who is suffering the loss of a loved one. You are
equipped to carry out this service to your fellow human beings,
because of your awareness of the power of Jesus, the love of Jesus
and the mission of Jesus. God has given each of us our own personal
mission and we have been appointed!
Holy God,
allow us to praise your name to everyone we meet.
St. Francis, show us how to experience
your great love and compassion.
Jesus, guide us along the right path.
Amen!
