A Reflection on Today's Scripture:
Today's world is very much like the days in Jerusalem that Luke
described in the Gospel passage. Jesus taught the people of those
times not to be discouraged. We have experienced upheavals in the
world today with acts of terrorism in our country, the ensuing war in
Afghanistan, and the latest disaster of an air crash in the skies
over The Rockaway's close by New York City. We feel the fear and the
distress of those who have lost their loved ones.
When we ask ourselves "How can we survive these times?" The answer is
the same today as it was yesterday. Jesus Christ is the answer. God
wants to take away our fears by planting the cross of Christ deep
within our hearts. The more we trust in God, the more we rely on the
Holy Spirit, the more we will know how much God loves us.
Jesus died on the cross for us so that we will have eternal life in
the kingdom of heaven. This is our faith, this is what we were
taught, and this is what we believe! Let us accept Jesus more deeply
into our lives. Let us experience the confidence to "look up" when
the end comes and our redemption draws near.
God our Father,
Allow our faith to endure at all times.
Let us eagerly await the coming
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Amen!
