A Reflection from Holy Scripture . . .
Truth or Deception:
God is telling us in the Gospel, that we are a people who are never
satisfied. We receive so much and we still want more. Jesus came to
give us the fullness of life, life with Him as the Lord of our lives.
What more could we want?
Are we not fortunate to have a God who never gives up on us? All we
need do, as Isaiah said, is to obey His commandments and our
prosperity will be like a river. Nothing could be stated more simply
by our God.
Here we are in the second week of Advent, waiting again as we
remember two thousand years ago, when God came to live among us. He
came to show the way to live forever: love God and love your
neighbor. Why do we tend to look for complicated formulas? The
Psalmist tells us if we follow the Lord, we will have the light of
life!
What is your choice?
O Holy Spirit,
Help us to be the people
who are grateful for the gift of our lives
and for the gifts you offer us daily.
Amen!
