John 1:35-42
A Reflection from Holy Scripture . . .
We direct our minds and hearts to the teacher whose feast we
celebrate today. Mother Seton, a Sister of Charity, devoted her life
primarily to the education of the poor, teaching in Catholic schools.
This wife and mother, ordinary in every way, founded the Sisters of
Charity, the first congregation of women religious. She is the first
native-born American citizen to be canonized.
Jesus the teacher knew the potential of Simon and told him he was to
be called Cephas (Peter). How does the Lord call you? All of us are
called to be disciples of God, simply by following Jesus invitation
to come and follow Him. The spirit of God empowers us in our daily
lives to be open to the calling of the Lord to follow Him. Faith and
trust are all that is needed as you surrender your life to God and
allow the Holy Spirit to teach you, guide you and transform you.
Jesus loves us so much! When we accept this fact, then pleasing God
means more to us then anything else. We are His chosen people, He
loves us, and we are ready to open ourselves to receive from Him.
Lord Jesus,
we turn to you in all humility.
Allow us to recognize your presence
in our daily lives! Amen!
