The Catholic Calendar for Tuesday, April 23, 2002 The Third Week of Easter St. George, St. Adalbert Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word: Acts 11:19-26 Psalm 87:1-7 John 10:22-30 A reflection on today's Scripture . . . . "...neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand" (John 10:28) There is such a wealth of material to meditate upon in this very short passage of John. You could probably read it every day for a week, perhaps a month, maybe longer before you could exhaust its treasures. But today let's spend time with just one thought, one idea that is tremendously powerful for our everyday lives. Jesus tells us that His sheep know His voice and follow Him. And more -- if you are one of them no one can ever take you away from God the Father and Jesus. No one that is, except yourself. For if you do not listen to Him, then you are no longer His. You can choose to turn away, but barring that, so long as you look upon Jesus with hope and trust, you can rely on Him to draw you along the path to salvation. Sometimes the path is rocky and we stumble. But this promise, if we choose to remain His, no one can take us away, should buoy up our hope. We go to confession and renew our pledge to try and try again. In so doing, we declare that we are His sheep and we are willing to be led. So next time you think you are hopeless, that God could not possibly consider you a son or daughter, remember what the Lord Jesus promised here. Hold on to the promise with firmness and remember Who it is that loves you and cares for you. He is the same one who wrought the vast secrets of the universe and the intricacies of the atom. With Him, nothing is impossible. - JuandelaCruz T.O.C. ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) YOU CAN HELP to evangelize the Word of God: Please recommend our website to your friends and Catholic webmasters.
