The Catholic Calendar for Friday, July 26, 2002 Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time Sts. Joachim and Ann, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary Scripture from today's Liturgy of the Word: Sirach 44:1,10-15 Psalm 132:11,13-14,17-18 Matthew 13:16-17 A Reflection on today's Holy Scripture . . . Everyday is a gift from God and gifts are for giving. We who are blessed and know God, have a daily opportunity to give this gift to everyone we meet. How many opportunities do we let slip through our fingers to be God's eyes and ears? All around us are the signs of God's hands in the beauty of creation. All around us are the cries of the poor, the fearful, the oppressed. Do we have the eyes and the ears to see and hear them? We must not let our hearts grow dull, but open our eyes and ears to see and hear God's words. We should thank God for having patience with us, for His mercy on us, and for helping us to open our hearts to receive His Holy word. This weekend, let us grasp every opportunity that comes our way, to follow the word of God with Hearts overflowing with His love. Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me! Amen! - Deacon Bill Powers ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) YOU CAN HELP to evangelize the Word of God:
