At the top level that's how I've done it too. The main differences are that:

* I used plain old Postgres for my queue

* I've used Mailgun for sending email https://www.mailgun.com/ as I didn't
know about Postmark.

The main thing I learned was that trying to send an email negotiating the
spiderweb of spam blocking and authentication I was way out of my depth!
