I suggest to contact author of the Dancer2::Text::Xslate about this 
prerequisite resp. trying to run it with
Perl 5.8 and fix problems.

Dancer2 itself should work with Perl 5.8.

Also you have always the choice to install a custom Perl on these boxes.
