the MTAs generally do a ptr lookup and an a or aaaa to confirm that the
latter results in the same ip as the socket; it could use the result of
that ptr lookup also to grab a _25._tcp TLSA rr.  Should it?  Should

Hum in this case there are two options
a) store the DANE record in both forward and reverse zone
b) place a CNAME record in the reverse zone.

IMHO
storing DANE record in just one place is better.
