Julie,
Be prepared to go and have a ball in agility with your dane. There is
nothing they can't do. There will be some obsticals that will be a litttle
more difficult, but nothing that they can't do. Training will be the same
for your dane as any dog. Everything needs to be taught step by step. The
only problem you sometimes run into with larger dogs is lifting them onto
the obtsicals at the beggining of training. The last part of the obstical
is taught first because they have a contact zone that they have to touch
before leaving an obstical. Make sure you have plenty of spotters.
Everything should be fun fun fun!!!!!!! Make sure your jump heights are low
for training purposes at this time, and don't overdo. Keep an eye on your
dane. Anytime you see interest and enthusiasm starting to drop off it is
time to quit. You don't want to push anything when your dog is fatigued.
Some of the larger danes have trouble with the tunnels, but most figure out
how to get through them.
Ebjoy,
Joyce
