I've written about this before, but new members probably never saw it.
Several years ago, when we had Shadow(dob-shepherd mix) and Bruiser (Dane),
they were out in the back yard, which even has a lock on the gate. I am
kind of fanatic about watching out for them, checking on them every 10-15
minutes, no matter what I'm doing, and often leaving the door open to
listen, even in the winter. Anyway, I heard them bark like that and went to
the door. They were barking at a car with a couple guys in it, one of whom
was whistling, trying to get Bruiser to jump the fence and come to him
(which he wouldn't do anyway). I immediately made them come in and the car
sped off. This guy obviously knew better than to approach the dogs, esp. in
their yard. He tried to get Bruise to go to him, probably to then offer him
a "ride". Wish I could have gotten their license no. I NEVER leave my dogs
outside if I'm not home, even if I only go up the street a few doors to a
friend's home!
