In the late 70's the county I lived in was under rabies
quarantine, and 2 horses had tangled with a rabid skunk
and had to be destroyed......I was working with a vet and
almost had to have the series of shots because we had to
put down a St. Bernard that was suspected of being rabid...
Fortunately he turned out to be clear, and the series of
shots had gone down to 7....

Rabies is a deadly disease. I don't like vaccinations
either, but we need to try to get rid of this disease.
It was before I was born (thank goodness) but I had a
family member that died from rabies (bitten by his own
pointer) and have heard the stories that the older
family members told about a horrible way to die....
And the last I heard, there is only one human recorded
to have lived through rabies.
