Wow...great post! You sumed a good part why we should
breed and what or motives should be...and I don't even
think you were trying...LOL. I think it would be
worth our while to try to find someone in the breed
(like Jill Swedlow) to maybe write a book about
"Ethical Breeders" Why it's important to breed for
quality. Maybe include stories of rescue Danes and
stories of the environments these Puppy Mill Danes
live in and explain why we as experienced people in
the breed should step out more to stop this kind of
"deceptive cruelty".
That would be a great book to give to all aspiring
Dane owners to read before getting one...I think we
(as this Breed) lack that kind of information, to
document and explain to the newbies why it really is
important to get a Dane from a responsible breeder.

Just Thinking
Brian Williams

P.S. My first Dane was also from a puppy mill...she's
the sweetest, most loving thing in this planet. I had
the horror today of seeing someone introduce theirself
on another list as having a show dog from the same
deceptive breeder that fooled me when I was new to the
breed...I've been pondering how I can break the news
to her without offending her. Maybe some advice on
this would be nice...
