The following two posts is an article I read
in a horse magazine that I thought would
be of interest. although it is a horse article,
do not shy away!! The horse industry (unfortunately
due to the mega bucks in the racing and breeding of
TB), has spent billions of dollars of
research on bone diseases and the like. Many studies
which have helped our fast growing, large breed animals

It is from these researches at the Universities that
many of our cures for diseases arrive from.

I personally have saved 2 dogs who would have
otherwise been euthanized, by bringing to the
attention of my vet some of these findings. He
then contacts the University and with their
participation and guidance, we were able to
save these 2 dogs.

Read, read and read all you can and bring these
findings to your vet and if he's a good one, he
will be eager to look into them for you.

The following is about a finding that OCD may
be related to insulin levels.

For non-horse people, young horses grow at a very
rapid speed, such as our Danes, and if you can believe
it, even faster. They also have many of the same bone
problems related to rapid growth.

FYI - Definition of some of the words used in article
Foals - baby horses
Colts - boys
Fillies - bitches, oops I mean girls!
Sweet Feed - is simply horse food with molasses added

I chose to retype the article in its entirety so that nothing
will be misconstrued, it is very long so if you choose, you
can just hit delete, and move on to other posts.

These magazines can be found at almost all Petsmart
and PETCO stores. If only the dog world would have
magazines like these. I have learned more about
nutrition, diseases, cures since I have gotten horses
and subscribed to these magazines. It has kept me
on the cutting edge re: health matters that even affect
my dogs. EQUUS is the best one, followed by Horse
Illustrated.

Well here goes, remember they are long. I won't
feel offended if you delete them! Heck, I won't even
know if you do!!!
