Tovero is a term used for color....usually a Tobiano, being a white base
with colored spots, or patches... Overo means the spot's or patches are
usually a white, and the base is colored...a Tovero, is kinda tricky....to
determine the base color, a pinto, or paint must have there back's,
determine the base color...so if the back is white, its base color is white,
which would make it a tobiano...if the back is colored, and not a white, it
would usually make it a Overo..so a Tovero, is between the two... half the
back is white, and half colored,......do you see?
as for Homozygous......this is a genetic term used when breeding them.it
means in simple terms...that it will usually ALWAYS produce color when
bred....
does this help? I would suggest getting yourself the paint horse legend's
book....this is usually a great start when searching out paint stock...also,
if you go to the A.Q.H.A. site, you'll find that alot of paint foundation,
came from the Quarter horses...Pinto's do not have the pedigrees that the
paints do...the A.P.H.A. also has a site, but its easier to register a
pinto, with just a picture, proving its a colored horse..the A.Q.H.A. does
not allow any paint to be registered, without knowing 3 generations of
lines, Minium...with pictures proving a colored horse as well...
