I've tried that...but there's a problem...he's afraid of the dark. Doggies
at our house go to bed at 9:00 p.m. (this is their self-imposed bedtime, not
mine), so even if I attempted to take him on a walk at 8:00 p.m., it's dark
out. He spends so much time being afraid of things (blowing leaves
included!), that we don't really get very far. He's even that afraid of
leaves (and kitties and garbage cans) in broad daylight. So power walking -
which I could use - is pretty difficult.

Last night was a bit better. He awoke at his usual 1:00 a.m. and I ignored
him for an hour - he banged around, dug at the crate door, whined, etc. I
figured that if he was still doing it after an hour, he must actually have
to go. He did - I gave up at 2:00 a.m. and took him out - he peed and
pooped, but went immediately back to bed without a peep (thankfully!).

It almost seems like his body schedule is backwards or something...

I am going to try to find some constructive things to do in the house with
him in the evening to attempt to tire him out some. I've never seen such a
chicken when it comes to the dark - even my scaredy-cat Hoss isn't afraid of
the dark (just everything else!).

Thanks for the idea...I'll see if I can't use it somehow.

A little less sleepless in Ohio...
