My 10 year old daughter had an assignment to
write a letter to someone she was thankful for.
She brought home the beautifully decorated
paper with the letter to our Dane.

"Happy Thanksgiving, Jewel! It is the time of
year for giving thanks. We have Thanksgiving
because our ancestors, the Pilgrims gave thanks
to the Indians for the food they gave them. Jewel,
I thank you for being in my life.

"I appreciate you most because you will always
love me no matter what. I also like you because I
can tell you my secrets, and you won't tell anybody
else. I remember when I thought no one cared and
you started licking me which showed someone did
care.

"I also remember a few days after we first got you
we were playing under one of our dogwood trees
and whenever I jumped on the swing hanging on a
branch, tons of flowers fell down and you looked so
goofy chasing all of them. It was so funny.

"Jewel, I just want to thank you for being with me and
comforting me all these years.
