I have an announcement. Tonight I have a new boy wandering around in my
house. He is Duke, he is about a year old, he is a mismarked mantle with a
beautiful face and a diamond on the back of his neck, no collar.
I got him from The Great Dane Rescue here, his tail had to be amputated
because it was injured so badly and not treated. He got the stitches out
yesterday. It will look fine when the hair grows back.
He was starved and near death when he was handed over to the humane society
in Truth or Consequences. The people here thought he was going to die a
couple times. He has started to gain weight, but is still 20-30 pounds
underweight.
He is sweet, it is very hard to see. I keep finding more healing sores on
him, even though he has been here being cared for for three weeks. Hans
seems to be doing well with him, and Greta is pissed off.
Kathy kept telling me he is a big boy, I finally figured out that was
because she thinks I am really little. He can touch noses with me if I sort
of bend my head down, he can look into the freezer with all four feet on the
floor. He is maybe 37 inches, and his neck is long.
I am about ti find out if he can get out of his brand new colossal crate.
