Are you still feeding kibble? Hoss, who came from pretty similar
circumstances, but at a much younger age, had that same digestive problem -
the runs, then horrible gas - off and on for almost a year. The only thing
I had found that would even begin to help was prescription Reglan. But he
still would get it soo bad and for awhile I really thought he had colitis.
I finally gave up on the meds and switched his food completely...It took
about 5 months of BARF, but he hasn't had a SINGLE EPISODE of diarrhea since
September!
Since we've been talking so much about BARF the last few days, I thought I'd
add this little story. Hoss had diarrhea every other week for almost a
year...sometimes so bad he couldn't help making a mess while I was at
work...it was also just for a day or so, then the horrible gas for a day or
so, then it would clear up.
I've just recently added Prozyme to his diet (since I finally found
someplace to order it from), but the improvement in his digestion, build,
coat and appearance are tremendous. My mom saw him for the first time in
about 2 months Saturday and couldn't believe that he was the same dog (she
also feeds her 6 small dogs BARF, but she hadn't seen this kind of obvious
turn around in her babies...).
I'm not preaching or anything...just saying that it really is worth a try
for those who can't figure out how to solve any number of digestive and
health problems. (Ruby, are you listening???)
